Penfield is a small unincorporated community located in Clearfield County, Pennsylvania, United States. It is situated at an elevation of 1,657 feet above sea level. The community is located along State Route 255, also known as the Bennetts Valley Highway, and State Route 153.
Penfield was founded in the late 1800s and was named after the Penfield family, who were early settlers in the area. The community was originally known as Penfield Corners and was a center for agricultural activity. Today, the economy of Penfield is largely based on tourism, with many visitors coming to enjoy the scenic beauty of the area and recreational activities such as fishing, hunting, and hiking.
Penfield is located about 22 miles north of Clearfield, the county seat of Clearfield County, and about 26 miles southeast of St. Marys, Pennsylvania. The area surrounding Penfield is rural and largely undeveloped, with forests, mountains, and streams dominating the landscape. The nearby Clearfield Creek is a popular destination for fishing and other recreational activities.
